Notice is hereby given that the Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the Town of Mason,
Tennessee, will hold a public hearing on Second Reading of Ordinance O06292026-02
adopting of a new property tax rate for FY27 following the countywide property reappraisal.
The current property tax rate for the Town of Mason is $1.2354 per $100 of assessed
valuation. Following the reappraisal, the State of Tennessee has certified a new tax rate of
$0.9927 per $100 of assessed valuation. The proposed certified tax rate is intended to
produce substantially the same amount of property tax revenue as the previous year’s rate,
excluding new construction and improvements.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen will consider adoption of the certified tax rate of $0.9927
per $100 of assessed valuation at its regular meeting on:

Dear Mason Utility Customers: This letter serves as a Notice to inform you that according to the Tennessee Board of Utility Regulations water and sewer rates will be increased. Water rates will increase to 5% and sewer rates will increase to 120%. This rate increase will become effective June 1, 2026.
This information can be located on the Town of Mason Website at
townofmasontn.org by visiting the home page.
Sanitation rates will be increased for all commercial customers; residential
sanitation rates will remain the same. This increase will become effective June 1, 2026.

In 2026, the town of Mason will be installing new water meters. This should not affect your water service.

Note: To the Citizens of Mason Regarding Water and Wastewater

To the citizens of Mason,

The citizens of Mason signed a contract with Alliance Water Resource to take care of our water and wastewater system starting October 16, 2023, for four years. Since then, the Alliance has provided the citizens of Mason with good quality water and water pressure. I know areas may at times have experienced some problems, but we have been working hard to fix them. We have come a long way from where we started.

Since I became mayor, the State of Tennessee has supported the city with grant money to improve our water system. The grant totals 3.5 million dollars. All the work is supposed to be completed by 2026. The citizens will be able to see some difference within the coming months.

Alliance’s decision to cancel the contract with the city was for numerous reasons. The main reason for working with some members of the Board of Alderman. The constant fighting against the mayor and the numerous complaints about their services were unbearable.
